Precautions for cleaning and disinfection of endoscope

Released on Aug. 10, 2021

Precautions for endoscope cleaning

1. When cleaning and disinfecting, it is recommended to separate the mirror from other surgical instruments and clean it with a plastic basin.

2. The lens must be cleaned before disinfection, otherwise foreign matter will accumulate on the lens after disinfection, which will affect the image quality. When there are too many foreign objects on the lens, use a cotton swab to apply some cleaning agent that comes with the mirror on the mirror surface, and then clean it with clean water.

3. Try not to frequently change the disinfection and sterilization methods, which is good for the sealing of the mirror.

4. It is forbidden to clean the mirror with ultrasonic, try not to clean the mirror with saline, otherwise it is easy to rust.

5. After sterilizing the mirror with high temperature and high pressure, be sure to let the mirror cool naturally, and refrain from cooling with cold water.

6. Soaking and disinfecting the mirror should not exceed 60 minutes.

Sterilization of hard and semi-rigid lenses

1. Soaking disinfection: 2% glutaraldehyde, 25℃, 60 minutes.

Suggested ETO gas disinfection: 10% ETO (ethylene oxide) mixed with 90% HCFC-124 (chlorotetrafluoroethane) gas disinfection, 54±2℃, pressure 056~0.7Bar, 2 hours, ventilation and drying for 12 hours, concentration 600±30mg/L

2. High-temperature and high-pressure disinfection: It is recommended not to use high-temperature and high-pressure disinfection as much as possible, but high-temperature and high-pressure disinfection can also be carried out in an emergency. Conditions for high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization: It is recommended to control the sterilization time of high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization at 134°; 5 minutes at 121°; 20 minutes with natural cooling.

Precautions for the use of endoscopes

1. It is strictly forbidden to bend or collide vigorously during surgery

2. When using auxiliary treatment equipment, ensure safe operation in the field of view. When the speculum is operated with photoelectric technology such as laser vaporization, high-frequency resection, microwave, etc., pay attention to the distance between the front end of the speculum and the treatment point to ensure the front end of the speculum Not to be shocked or burnt.

3. The mirror itself must be protected when adjusting the angle of view during the operation. The mirror and the sheath must be aligned and fixed with a lock when linking the sheath. It is not easy to be too strong.

4. It is recommended to store it separately to avoid collision with other equipment, and it must be handled with care to avoid collision with the mirror. The mirror image transmission system is a glass cylinder that is fragile.

5. It is recommended to soak in warm water and apply anti-fog oil before surgery.
