Why Does The Medical Endoscope Camera System Use A Cold Light Source?

Medical Endoscope Camera System is an indispensable equipment in endoscopic minimally invasive surgery, and cold light sources are mostly used in medicine in some special situations, such as endoscopic minimally invasive surgery, such as specialized departments. The reason why the cold light source is chosen is that medicine itself is quite special, especially in the operation process, if a hot light source is used, it may cause the lamp to become hot and hot, which affects the stability of the lamp itself, and thus affects the normal operation. It may also lead to errors in the operation.

The cold light source has no heat, high brightness, color temperature consistent with daylight spectrum, high luminous efficiency/low energy consumption. In endoscopic surgery, the basic function of the cold light source is to generate cold light, and various endoscopes using fiber-guided light beams can be provided as the light source part to provide brightness illumination for the observation and inspection of the inner cavity.

The heat energy generated by the bulb of the cold light source is processed by the cooling device in the light source case, and then transmitted through the light guide fiber of the endoscope to become cold light. Most of the radiation from the light source used in medical optical instruments is radiated by infrared rays. Visible light only accounts for a small part of the total radiation, and infrared rays have to be converted into heat energy. Therefore, in order to effectively remove the heat source, the light source is turned into a cold light source.

Classification of endoscope cold light source:

The cold light source of the endoscope is divided into ordinary halogen light source, xenon light source, and LED light source according to the type. The colors of the three light sources are close to daylight, which makes the eyes feel the image lifelike. With the continuous upgrading of endoscopy technology, halogen lamps have been slowly eliminated at present. Xenon lamps and LED lamps are more commonly used, but xenon lamps have short lifespan and are often replaced. LED cold light sources have the advantages of small size, long life, and high efficiency. It can be used continuously for up to 100,000 hours, and in the future, the LED light source will become the mainstream in endoscope technology.
